The National Police Agency (NPA) released data on Thursday that shows the reports of domestic violence in Japan for the first six months of 2012 have increased by a significant 46.3% over the same period from the year before. Out of the 2,016 reported cases, 94.3% of the victims were women. What is important to note about this is that it doesn’t mean the instances of abuse are increasing, but that more of them are being reported to authorities.
