Would is often used in polite requests and offers. It is a softer, less definite form of will.

ていねいな要求・依頼 ―― 2人称
相手の希望や意向をていねいにたずねたいときは、
Would you like (to)~? の言い方がよく用いられます。
- Would you like to visit the factory for information?
- (その工場を見学なさりたいのですか)
Would you kindly~?
Would you mind + 動名詞~?
の形でよく用いられます。
これもwillよりていねいで、えん曲な言い方です。
- Would you kindly attend the conference tomorrow?
- (あす会議にご出席くださいますか)
- Would you mind telling me your name?
- (お名前をお聞かせくださいませんか)
